Post Cards From The Tribe
Explore, experience, make memories, repeat.
Greetings from my couch, yep for once I’m home and not checking in somewhere. Lol
Let’s get into it – I’m Eddie Vilakazi affectionately known as Urbane Eddie, a gent that’s all about catching flights and making memories one check-in at a time. As a travel enthusiast, I’m naturally into all things lifestyle, food, and style, and I truly believe all these encompass what the name Urbane in Urbane Eddie stands for.
As a small-town boy who grew up visiting eMadadeni in KZN every school holiday, traveling was not something I thought about past that 2.5-hour drive to visit my aunt. Fast forward to my first Cape Town trip years after (when the boy started working) and things changed – that trip truly altered what travel meant and looked like for a black boy in his early 20’s. The excitement, rush, beauty, and overall joy that I experienced on that trip cemented my love for travel. I immediately knew that I wanted to explore, experience, make memories, and repeat. In the years how I travel has certainly evolved as I now have must-have items to bring on every trip and I’ll share a few:
- A good tote to carry all those loose items
- Power bank
- Headsets or a good book to read
- Sunnies always ( I carry a minimum of 4, don’t judge)
- Bluetooth speaker
- Linen, if you’re traveling during spring/summer.
- Cologne ( minimum of 2, a day and night scent)
- A camera/drone to capture the beauty
My love for travel is my joyful place and one of my travel gems to date has been Oblivion Clifftop, there’s a serenity and peacefulness that’s there which pictures can never fully capture – an experience I wish for everyone.
I’m currently swapped with the planning of my first group trip to Bali, a bit nerve-racking as this is new territory for me but excited about all the beauty and memories to be made there. You can join the trip or journey with me via socials – follow me on Instagram and Twitter handles Urbane Eddie or the travel page Besfernweh. You can DM to find out more about the Bali trip there.
Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me, I can’t wait to share more gems with you all.
Let’s grow The Tribe with Thobi Rose as we see and share the world.
Lots of Love
From my couch
Urbane Eddie
